Celebrating reading (& writing)

It seems that November was the last time I was in touch through this medium, which may be a good thing for those of you that received many emails. So Happy New Year, I guess? And check out the paperback of Nuts & Bolts!

As World Book Day and International Women’s Day are upon us, I thought I’d get in touch to ask you, how do you read? Fiction or non-fiction? Multiple books on the go at once (guilty)? Familiar names or the thrill of the unknown?

I recently spoke at the Kolkata Book Fair, the largest in the world by attendance. I met the most wonderful writers and independent bookshop owners and felt full in the soul when I left with so many books - anthologies, ghost stories with feminist undertones, and fiction in the form of love letters. (I’ve managed to finish one of these so far.)

In the meantime, I have also been reading books by authors whom I know well, mostly in the non-fiction space. To see some of these, click into my Bookshop.org shop and have a browse! I’m always keen to tackle subjects that are outside my comfort zone (think poker) but also topics that resonate (managing energy levels). And of course, learn more about power structures around the world, and how we might dismantle them.

I look forward, reader, to hearing how you read.

My Whereabouts:

Having had a ball at the Faversham Literary Festival, I will soon be travelling to Italy and Germany to engage with readers of the translations of my books. And I hope to make some comedy appearances at UK festivals this summer. More details once I have them.
